Individuals with urinary catheters or stomas have specific care needs, and carers often feel unsure how to best meet these needs. This course aims to provide an overview of when a catheter or stoma might be necessary, the care needed and how to identify problems.

De-escalation Techniques

This one day course will enable attendees to improve their techniques for dealing with conflict by exploring different approaches to calming an agitated individual whilst learning from the experience. The training is intended to ensure that there is consistency in the interests of all concerned and that participants understand that the organisation has a duty to ensure that it is meeting its obligations in a non-confrontational, safe environment where calmness and reason prevail.

Depravation of Liberties Safeguarding

This one day course will enable attendees to improve their understanding of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and ensure that they are given the skills and knowledge to safeguard vulnerable clients and themselves. It is recommended that participants have attended the Mental Capacity Act training prior to attending this course as it will only be covered as an overview.

Domestic Violence

Epilepsy

There are over 600,000 people in the UK who are living with Epilepsy. 5 in every 100 people will have an epileptic seizure at some point in their life, 4 out of these 5 will go on to develop epilepsy. This one day course explores the role of the brain and how epilepsy can present within each area, risk factors involved, types of epilepsy and seizure classification, causes of premature death in epilepsy, first aid requirements, documentation and recording.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

This one day course will enable attendees to improve their understanding around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the role that they play.  Throughout the session, they will explore different approaches and be provided with the skills and knowledge that they need.  

Exploitation & Grooming

The sexual exploitation of children and young people has been identified throughout the UK, in both rural and urban areas, and in all parts of the world. It affects boys and young men as well as girls and young women. This one day course is aimed at practitioners in voluntary, independent and statutory agencies who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers.

This one day training course has been developed to highlight the importance of recording in the delivery of social care and to help people learn the principles of effective documentation. This course enables delegates to identify entitlement to benefits and tax credits by providing an introduction to the benefits system, its administration and decision-making processes. This one day course is a practical introduction to working with people who experience hearing voices.
